March
.Newmillerdam
.(Opening Match Trophy)
.All Lake
Anglers turning up for the first match of the campaign were greeted to a mostly frozen Newmillerdam, some opting to turn around and head straight back home.
Eighteen of the brave decided to give it a go and were pegged evenly on both sides in the middle section. Top rod on the day was Trevor Rymer from peg17 with a weight of 10lb 13oz. He took three Bream and a few skimmers all on feeder tactics using maggot baits.
Second was Ray Reah from peg 52 with 9lb 7oz of Bream and Skimmers on the same feeder methods and baits. Third on the day was Gary Hampshire with 5lb 14oz from peg13 which consisted of three small Bream and a 1lb 6oz Roach again on feeder tactics.

..All Lake
Newmiller Dam attracted twenty anglers to its bank for the latest club match. The temperature was still quite cold and the howling winds made it feel even colder.
Ray Reah drew the fancied area, and from peg 9 caught Roach and Bream at regular intervals for a top weight of 11lb 12oz. He started catching on liquidised bread feeder and punch on the hook and then switched to traditional feeder and maggot baits as the day progressed.
Second on the day from the next peg was Paul Townsley who was only one fish behind using exactly the same tactics. He weighed 9lb 6oz of Bream all caught on the feeder.
Third off peg 22 was Geoff Askey who caught plenty of Skimmers but of a smaller size. He caught on feeder with dead maggot baits and weighed 8lb 7oz.

.Walkers Dam
...(Huntington Rose Bowl)
All Lake
Howling winds caused chaos to Wakefields latest club match held on Walkers Dam on Sunday 28 March 2010.
Twenty one turned out, and all those pegged in the top bay opted to fish feeder to avoid any pole breakages.
Mike Sharpe drew a calmer area on end peg 19 and poled his way to victory with 7lb 1oz of Skimmers and a solitary Carp all taken on worm fished over chopped worm and caster.
Second off peg 3 was in-form rod Ray Reah who landed 4lb 14oz of Skimmers all taken on worm with a couple on red maggot using groundbait feeder.
Third was Joel Whiteley from end peg 1 who struggled early on but persistence payed off with a small Skimmer and a very large Bream taken on the feeder in the final hour weighing 4lb 8oz in total.
The highlight of the day was watching club chairman Harry Lodge hook into four good Carp on the pole and not being able to stop any of them in their tracks.

.Hemsworth Water Park
.Top Lake
A field of twenty five anglers entered the fray for the latest club match held at Hemsworth Water Park last Sunday 11h April 10
Big weights were not expected but surprisingly the venue fished better than normal for the time of year.
Joel Whiteley drew plum peg 34 and took full advantage netting Skimmers and Roach throughout the day on Pole for a total weight of 21lb 2oz. All his fish were taken on worm over chopped worm and caster and included a bonus Perch of 2lb 12oz.
Second from the top of the lake was Gary Hampshire with a weight of 17lb 8oz off peg 20. Not a noted Bream area so an all out attack for Roach resulted in eighty five put into the net with a single Perch and three Skimmers all taken on single caster on the pole.
Third place went to Mark Carpenter adjacent to the winner on peg 33 with a weight of 16lb 15oz. He like the winner caught Skimmers and Roach throughout the day pole fished worm over a bed of casters and worms.

..Healey Dam
(John Morte Cup)
..All Lake
Poor weather and poor fishing complimented a poor turnout (only twelve
anglers) for the latest club match held on Healey Dam. The cold was
reminiscent of February, and so were the number of bites anglers were
fishing for.
Jason Orwin
took full advantage of probably the best peg on the lake, peg 25, to
secure victory with 15lb 7oz of Skimmers, Roach and a very big 'Crusian'
on pole and worm over a bed of chopped worm and casters.
Second
was newcomer Andy Hampshire from
peg 19 who got his fist fish forty minutes from the end and added three
more before the final whistle. He landed four nice Bream for a weight
of 9lb 11oz all taken on single caster over groundbait and pellets.
Third
was John Wzrosek who landed a
big Carp in the first half hour after a long battle, adding a Skimmer
and a few Roach for a combined weight of 9lb 5oz from peg 6.

.Calder & Hebble Canal..(Horbury U.D.C Cup)
.. 1-40
Gary Hampshire reports on the latest club match held on 13th June 2010,
on the Calder & Hebble Canal at the Navigation End
Mark (Chippy) Carpenter won his first
match for nearly two and a half years on an out of sorts canal, but did
it in style. He drew peg 3 above the Navigation lock and started out
fishing for Roach. After an hour with hardly anything, he went over to
the far bank with worm and soon had a nice Chub in the net. His next
fish came as a surprise in the form of a three pound Tench again taken
on worm at sixteen metres. As the day progressed he landed three more
Chub, two in the last five minutes which easily beat the other twenty
anglers. His five fish weighed a total of 15lb 12oz.
Paul Yates adjacent on peg 1 wasn't
going to be left out, and again targeted big fish. He landed three Tench
and a small Chub fishing at fifteen mtres, one taken on worm and the
rest on double red maggot. His four fish tipped the scales at 10lb 6oz.
Third
from peg 31 was the vastly improving Luke
Arabskyj who caught small Skimmers and Hybrids steadily
throughout the match, again at sixteen mtres on maggot and worm baits.

Hemsworth water park played host to eighteen anglers all hoping to land top spot.
A broken number six section whilst setting up meant Luke Wzrosek could only fish close in and this payed dividends as the fish were closer in than everyone thought. He caught small fish nearly every drop and finished well clear with 30lb 4oz.
Second on end peg was Eric Wright who caught Skimmers and two big Tench on pellet and double caster on pole for a weight of 26lb 12oz.
