The latest Wakefield angling club match fished on the 18th October 09 attracted nineteen anglers to the banks of Walkers Dam at Alverthorpe. The Dam had been fishing slow all week and with a slight frost the night before so big weights were not on the cards. The lilly pads that appear from peg11 to peg13 each summer were the areas to draw and once again provided the top three on the day. Winner was Ray Reah off peg 13 who landed three Carp and a Tench on worm baits for a top weight of 12lb 8oz. Donald Pearson on adjacent peg 12 managed to lure two Carp and a Tench from within the pads for a second best weight of 9lb 14oz. Again all his fish were taken on full worms. Third was taxi man Dave Chapman from peg 10 who landed a good Carp of about seven pounds and added Roach and Cruicians for a combined weight of 9lb 11oz all taken on pieces of worm.
