The Calder and Hebble Canal at Horbury Bridge was the scene of the latest sweepstake on Sunday 24 Jan 2010, where local anglers were keen to get the rods out after the big freeze.
.
The big Bream in the wides failed to show but the competitors were able to take advantage of the Roach that were on a feeding spree and those pegged in the wides were soon putting fish into their nets.
Ian Dawson from Bradford had an excellent start with 25 Roach in the first hour at eleven metres with punched bread on the hook
.
John Holdsworth from Huddersfield was also taking fish on the same method at nine metres with a couple of the fish around the half pound mark.
Taking advantage of an end peg draw canal ace Richard Crispin fishing under the Walton banner, made his attack with Bloodworm and Joker and after a slow start picked up fish at regular intervals with a good bonus Perch well over the pound .As the match progressed Crispin added many more to his net taking the rest of the field to the cleaners and pulling over 4lbs clear.
