The Wakefield Angling Club caters for anyone wishing to fish waters in and around the City of Wakefield.
Our fisheries consist of lakes, ponds, canals and a local stretch of the River Calder. Some still waters are ideal for disabled anglers and juniors.
The club is a member of the National Federation of Anglers, and enters a team in Division One of the National Championships and the Regional Championship, as well as various leagues.
Our thriving Junior Section also fishes in the Championships. We have league matches, friendly competitions against juniors from other clubs, and our own weekly matches in June and July.
Tuition is available for junior and novice anglers.
We have a programme of weekly matches in the summer for Veteran members (aged 60 and over) and have recently started a Ladies' Section, which offers coaching and a "Ladies' only" evening at the Flanshaw Dam.
