The Wakefield Angling Club caters for anyone wishing to fish waters in and around the City of Wakefield.

Our fisheries consist of lakes, ponds, canals and a local stretch of the River Calder. Some still waters are ideal for disabled anglers and juniors.

The club is a member of the Angling Trust, and enters teams in the National and Regional Championships, as well as various leagues.

Our thriving Junior Section also fishes in the Championships. We have league matches, friendly competitions against juniors from other clubs, and our own weekly matches in June and July. Tuition is available for junior and novice anglers.

We have a programme of weekly matches in the summer for Veteran members (aged 60 and over) and have recently started a Ladies' Section, which offers coaching and a "Ladies' only" evening at the Flanshaw Dam.

NO NIGHT FISHING ON ANY CLUB WATERS
From 1st Jan 2008 - THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE FISHING LICENCE FOR HORBURY AND WAKEFIELD LAGOONS HAVE BEEN REVISED BY WAKEFIELD COUNCIL. NIGHT FISHING HAS BEEN BANNED ON BOTH LAGOONS AND VEHICLE ACCESS ONTO THE GRASSED AREAS AROUND THE HORBURY LAGOONS HAS ALSO BEEN BANNED. MEMBERS BREAKING THESE NEW CONDITIONS, WOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRING DAMAGED AREAS AND COULD LEAD TO THE WITHDRAWL OF MEMBERSHIP. THESE CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE POLICE.
